A few weeks ago, the illustration duo VAAF, in collaboration with The Klabu, took on a new project aimed at creating a colorful and visually appealing space for the residents of the asylum seekers' center (AZC) in Ter Apel. They decided to create a mural on a container that would be converted into a sports library for underage asylum seekers, providing residents with access to sports equipment they could use to stay active and enjoy themselves outdoors.
VAAF received support for this project from Cantastic.nl, which donated all the Loop Colors Spray Paint required for the mural. A priority for VAAF and the rest of the team was to ensure that the AZC residents were involved in the creation of the mural. To achieve this, they spent several afternoons in Ter Apel working together with the community to design and paint the mural.
According to the team and the participants, creating the mural was "super fun," and they shared several photos showing the progress of the project. These photos offer a glimpse into the collaborative effort required to bring this project to life.
